Hanover Pennsylvania Dutch Fest

Sitka Hollow Strings took the stage at this year’s Hanover Pennsylvania Dutch Festival – a celebration of local heritage.  We were delighted to perform such Pennsylvania German folk songs as “Schpinn Schpinn, Meine Liewe Dochder” and “Freut ech des Lebens” for an appreciative audience, and to meet other enthusiastic musicians.  We would like to thank the town of Hanover for its hospitality, as well as the festival staff and volunteers, for their service towards the preservation of their town’s unique history and culture.

A Taste of Chamber Music

Yesterday, Sitka Hollow Strings enjoyed the honor of being included in the Hanover Symphony Orchestra’s seventh annual Taste of Chamber Music event in Hanover, PA.  It was a pleasure for us to perform alongside such wonderful musicians and to meet and speak with local music lovers.  We’d like to thank everyone in attendance, as well as the event sponsors, for their patronage to the arts.

Snitzing Party and Heritage Day

This past weekend was very eventful and exciting for Sitka Hollow Strings! We hosted a Pennsylvania German snitzing party for faculty and staff members of the Milton Hershey College of Medicine in Hershey, PA, and donned our 19th Century garb to stroll and play at the Renfrew Museum and Park Heritage Day Celebration in Waynesboro, PA. We are very thankful for these opportunities to perform historical music and stories, and look forward to our engagements this upcoming weekend at a hay baling party and at Porchfest in Hagerstown, MD.
